Blackbird was a real-time strategy game targeting the hardcore market. I came onto the project around a year into development to revise the UI and UX.
Various key screens in the game. The UI was designed to be functional and lightweight, using very little texture space and letting the 3d models and environments shine.
The initial sketches for most of the screens and features typically came from the project managers, game designers, or collaborative whiteboard discussions. When product and design completed a feature spec, I reviewed them, asked questions, then created wireframes. When the wireframes were approved by the stakeholders, I created visual mock-ups and animation prototypes.
